Othella Harrington to Face Knee Surgery
The Charlotte Bobcats will be without center Othella Harrington for three to six weeks because of a left knee surgery.
A procedure to repair torn cartilage is set for Thursday morning at Presbyterian Orthopedic Hospital.
The 6-foot-9 inch veteran, a second-round draft pick out of Georgetown by Houston in 1996, has played in only 21 games after signing a free agent contract with the Bobcats in the off-season.
“It definitely hurts (to miss this time),” Harrington said on the team’s Web site. “You always want to play and be a part of the team, but unfortunately you just can’t control injuries.”
Harrington also has played for Chicago, Vancouver, and New York, and was signed to provide front-court depth for the Bobcats. He is the second big man on Charlotte’s injury list.
Forward Sean May is out indefinitely with a bone bruise in his right knee.
May, in his second season, has averaged 11.5 points and 6.7 rebounds in 32 games.
