Knee Surgery for A&M’s Greg Arline
Florida A&M running back Greg Arline will have to have surgery on his left knee and could miss the entire 2006 season.
FAMU head football coach Rubin Carter revealed the news after this morning’s practice.
“He’s going to be out for a while and it’s just one of those tough, difficult situations,” Carter said.
Arline, a 5-9, 190-pound redshirt-junior out of Columbia High School in Lake City, injured his knee on his first carry during Saturday’s scrimmage.
Arline initially didn’t think it would be a major setback, but Tuesday’s MRI showed a more serious injury than originally thought.
“Greg has always been a competitor and on that particular play, he was competing when he got hurt,” Carter said. “It’s a serious situation for him, but he’s been upbeat about the whole situation. He’ll go through the rehab process and try and get himself back on the field as soon as he can.”
Arline came into preseason camp competing with Joe Lawson and Anthony Edwards for the starting running back job.
Lawson was shocked to hear about the news after this morning’s practice.
“That is horrible news to hear,” Lawson said. “Me and Arline are pretty tight. We’ve all been working through this together. That’s a big blow to the team.”
