Lalime to undergo reconstructive knee surgery
St. Louis Blues goaltender Patrick Lalime will undergo reconstructive surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Lalime is the third Blues’ goaltender to suffer a major injury this season after being hit by an opponent. Curtis Sanford is out for the season with a knee injury and rookie Jason Bacashihua is close to returning from a shoulder injury.
Blues coach Mike Kitchen said the team will start Reinhard Divis in goal Tuesday against Minnesota with rookie Chris Beckford-Tseu as the backup.
Beckford-Tseu was recalled from minor-league Peoria under emergency conditions after Lalime’s injury. He would be returned to the minors once Bacashihua is ready to return, perhaps later this week.
Lalime was injured in a collision with Nashville forward Scott Hartnell in the third period on Saturday. The normal rehabilitation time from the surgery is five to six months.
